Penumbra Mental Health Western Isles

Covers all of the Western Isles. Ages 16+. Referrals: self-referral, family member, all health professionals. Support with mild to moderate mental health conditions — peer support and person-centred 1-2-1 support. Monthly Hope and Recovery group for those struggling with their mental health (Stornoway). Walking football (Stornoway). Walk & Talk delivered in partnership with Catch 23, all abilities (Stornoway).

Western Isles Learning Shop

Adults (16+). Referrals via agency or self-referral. Comfortable environment for adults to learn and develop new skills, tailored to the individual. Learning options: 1:1, group or self-directed drop-in. Subjects: number work, reading/writing/spelling, driving theory, form filling and job application support, communication skills, Gaelic family learning, resettlement ESOL provision, homework support, multiply, basic computing, internet & email, introduction to adult learning. Mainly serves Lewis. Tutors/support workers.

Crossroads Lewis

Supports unpaid carers on the Isle of Lewis with a regular weekly respite service tailored to individual carer circumstances. Also supports those living alone in exceptional circumstances – companionship, encouraging independence and reducing isolation. Palliative care needs (including overnight support). Short Breaks (funded by Shared Care Scotland). All ages; referrals via GP, other health/care professionals, family or self. Support Workers paid at National Living Wage. Independent registered charity governed by a board of members; inspected annually by the Care Inspectorate (www.careinspectorate.com).
