Crossroads Care Harris
Respite care in the home for carers of ill, elderly and disabled people – a care attendant takes over to give the carer a break. Also supports elderly and vulnerable people living alone in isolated circumstances: companionship to combat loneliness, transport to medical/dental appointments, transport to leisure and day care, shopping and visits, light household help, emergency overnight care to avoid hospital admission. All ages. Referrals via GP or other health/care professional. Staffing: part-time Service Manager, part-time Admin Assistant, paid sessional Care Attendants, voluntary Board of Trustees. Western Isles Women’s Aid
Covers all of the Western Isles. All ages, open to all women. Referrals: any individual or organisation. Young persons worker — 1-2-1 support from age 3, the parent does not have to be involved. Refuge worker — supports women who have suffered abuse, including mental and financial abuse. Support through the entire process of housing and attending appointments. Court support worker — 1-2-1 support for women going through the criminal justice system.
